If so or indeed if not, welcome to Midtable Mediocrity – the blog that picks out the issues you’ll need to know to become the Statto of the pub.
My name’s Steve and I’m a fan of Tottenham Hotspur. As such I know as well as anyone the rollercoaster ride that supporting a midtable, under-achieving club can provide. You celebrate the highs and comiserate the lows because it is all part of the beautiful game.
The term “mediocrity” could be seen as an insult to a club but for me, it represents the situation most Premier League clubs find themselves in without the power or financial muscle to break into the lucrative market of the Champions League.
So whilst finishing 10th or 11th is a form of midtable glory, in reality the mediocrity extends up to the European places and above the relegation zone as a string of bad or good results can catapult you from one end of the table to the other.
That’s my philosophy anyway, what’s yours?
